Basement / cellar conversions
Cellars are a pretty common feature in Northamptonshire, particularly in Victorian properties in the larger towns – Northampton, Wellingborough, Kettering and Rushden. Originally, they would have been used for storage – a cool space for keeping food, before the invention of domestic refrigeration. Many were used as workshops, especially for those who worked in the Boot & Shoe industry.
Nowadays, many of these cellars are disused, however converting this neglected space can be a surprisingly cost-effective way of increasing the size of your property and increasing its value.
Popular uses for basement conversions:
- Playroom
- Utility room
- Home Office
- Home Gym
- Games Room
- Entertainment / games room
- Study
- Home recording studio

Loft conversions
Loft and attic conversions can provide valuable extra living space to your family home. Why not maximise your existing space? We can install Velux, create dormers and advise you on the best way forward for your loft conversion project
What can I use a cellar conversion for?
Loft conversions, tend to lend themselves to the creation of additional bedroom space. As a basement is already in close proximity to the main living area, it makes sense to see it as an extension of the family living space, such as a playroom or an entertainment / games room. One popular choice is to relocate the utility room ( Washer / dryer / laundry area ) and possibly even the boiler itself, freeing up precious space above ground.

Dormer extension
A dormer extension could be the answer iff you have an unused space in your attic. A dormer consists of a roofed structure, often containing a window, that projects vertically beyond the plane of a pitched roof. Perfect for that extra bedroom, home office or child’s playroom.
Porch
Though not often though of as an extension per se, a porch can be exacatly that ! Defined as “a structure that is outside the main walls of a building or house” – A porch is essentially a small extension at the front, rear or side of the house. Sealed from the weather, porches can double up as a bootroom / cloakroom and even have lighting and electrical sockets.
